Intro to Pottery Course: Wheel Throwing & Hand Building
Curious about pottery but not sure where to start? This 4-week course is the perfect introduction to both handbuilding and wheel throwing.
Designed for complete beginners, you'll learn a variety of pottery techniques while creating functional pieces for your home. Each week builds on the last, giving you the opportunity to experience multiple areas of ceramics before deciding which style you enjoy most.
What You'll Learn
Week 1: Introduction to Handbuilding
Create handmade mugs and travel tumblers while learning foundational pottery techniques.
Week 2: Introduction to Wheel Throwing & Handbuilding
Spend 1 hour learning the basics of wheel throwing, followed by 1 hour handbuilding custom plates.
Week 3: Trimming & Functional Kitchenware
Learn how to trim and finish wheel-thrown pottery for 1 hour, then create handbuilt kitchenware such as salt and pepper shakers, a butter bell, or a citrus juicer.
Week 4: Glazing
Choose from a variety of studio glazes and finish your favorite pieces before they are fired and made food-safe.
